It's important for me who is at the table; the moment when everyone speaks to each other and everyone listens.
If there's good food, it's much better.

FOOD AS A MEDIUM
I truly enjoy all types of cooking and every cuisine in the known universe. But if I were to say specifically what I enjoy is first, the art of composition, then equally, the sharing stories around the table or the fire and a clearly refined/rustic approach to cooking. I have a craftsman's approach to the plate and carpenter's aesthetic that says, "build it strong and made to last, and try to make it nice!" This means I prefer an equal dose of passion and technique.
Think Northern Italian, Peruvian, Street Foods from around the World, mixed with a touch of finesse and Farm to Table freshness from my California heritage. |
Food as art is cultural by nature. It tells the stories of our ancestry and of place. It is the fundamental medium that draws us close together around a table, or around the fire to share what is meaningful and to share the experience of life.
The images below are stories from my experience that I think are meaningful to share. Each person's 'camera eye' captures and reveals something truly unique and personal. Many of the plates and displays below were created by me and many are things that caught my attention and improved my food experience and ultimately enriched my life.
